Chapter 6.3 – Drama: Espressivo of Light and Darkness Part 1 (3)
“This is the office where the student council president answers visitors. But this room is a bit cramped for our activities as a faction, isn’t it?”
“You’re absolutely right, Foru-san.”
Lady Sophia agreed, and His Highness Alforth nodded.
“But is Alicia-san with you…?” And a question mark is raised. It seems that there is a sensory divide between the high nobility and royalty, and the lower nobility.
I’ve heard that the real student council room is located behind the door of the student council room and office. With Vol’s permission, when we passed through the door – it was a storage room.
“….Foru?”
I looked at her to see what she meant, and she huffed and looked away. Instead, Foru’s maid bowed her head. “I’m sorry I didn’t do anything right.”
“Hey, that’s not something for Leah to apologize for.”
“But since you won’t apologize, Miss Foru, the blame lies with me.”
“…No, that’s the same as saying that it’s really me who’s bad, by implication.” What a thought, Foru muffled and growled.
“I’m sorry. I was the one who said I didn’t have to clean the student council room.”
”Yeah I get it.”
”I’m just guessing–”
“Foru, are you sure you don’t want to clean the student council room?”
I said it was necessary. I’m not going to let them join the council.
I guess they had a conversation like that.
I understood, but didn’t scold her, which is the adult thing to do. I suggested cleaning the student council room as part of the student council’s job, with a nonchalant look on my face.
“You’re suggesting that you’re a member of the student council and you’re going to clean the student council room?”
“Yes, I can’t have you ladies cleaning up. Therefore, how would you like me to clean up on behalf of the student council members?”
As a member of the student council and a servant at the same time, I would be suitable for the job. I cut it out like that, but Lady Sophia opposed me.
However, even Alicia and His Highness Alforth pretend to agree with me.
“Didn’t I say earlier that Foru is your equal in the school? I can’t just let Cyril clean up. I’ll help you too.”
The young lady would like to try cleaning.
But even if we were equals, I wouldn’t let Miss Sophia clean. In fact, I don’t recall ever teaching Miss Sophia how to clean.
If other people weren’t watching, it would be unthinkable, but–I couldn’t let Miss Sophia blunder through this in front of the others.
”Uhh….”
“Now, I’ll take care of the bags, ladies, and you can go through the records of past activities.”
The purpose in the first place is to find out the past activities of the student body. If it’s paperwork, it’s a fine nobleman’s job. At least, if you’re Lady Sophia, you’re good at it.
If that’s the case, I decided to leave it to her to help out, assuming there would be no problem.
Incidentally, His Highness Alforth and Alicia must have felt the same way. The two servants look blatantly relieved.
“We’ll clean the room first, so please wait here for now.”
I asked the others to wait, and I stepped into the student council office. Then, instead of closing the door leading to the office, I opened all the windows.
“Well–now let me do my real job as a butler.”
The first thing you prepare is a piece of cloth.
Continue chanting and use a magic circle to activate a special wind magic. The whirlwind raises the dust and collects it by passing it through the cloth. This is a cleaning spell that existed in the world of the game from my previous life.
It was a rather popular magic in the previous world, and any student of magic could use it, but those in this world could not.
Lady Sophia would be able to use it if taught, but the others would lack the skill. Foru used wind magic, but that’s probably the best this world can do.
Be as it may, I clean the room by floating the dust into the cloth. Then I dusted from top to bottom and stored the cluttered papers on the clean shelves.
Finally, the cleaning was done with a wipe down of the area where the stuff had been stacked up.
After I finished cleaning the room quickly, I cleaned myself up one last time and went back to the office. Then Alicia noticed my return, and spoke to me.
“Cyril-san. How’s the cleaning going? Wouldn’t it be better for us to help, after all?”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s all taken care of.”
“What are you talking about? I haven’t even started cleaning yet….are you sure you’re done? Eh, Cyril, did you finish cleaning in such a short time?”
Alicia, who looked into the room, rolled her eyes. On the other side, Melissa and the other servants were also surprised. It seemed to be an impossible speed for someone who didn’t know about cleaning magic.
While that was the case, I checked the past activity records of the ladies and the student council, but it seems that they were essentially only active as a faction.
However, the gathering now is not like a ‘faction’. As I was looking for something else to do, Miss Sophia, who was looking through the activity records, said, “How about this?” she raised her voice.
When I went to the young lady, her supple fingers pointed to a line in the records.
“Performances of the Past Student Council at the Cultural Festival.”
Along with such a note, there was a list of what plays were performed in what year.
“Does this mean….that the student council had performed a play at the school festival?”
Yeah. This record shows that it was an annual event until three years ago. Until then, the show seemed to go on every year. There were a variety of titles, from famous acts that everyone knows, to acts that I have never heard of.
“Miss Sophia, are you interested in the theatre?”
“Well I’m interested in acting. Besides, having a positive track record in the student council will help me achieve my goals.”
“Very well. If that’s what you think, young lady, I see no reason to stop you.”
I stepped back to do as Lady Sophia wished.
She nodded dully and turned her gaze once again to the others.
“How about we revive this event by ourselves?”
Alicia and His Highness Alforth concur with the young lady’s question. His Royal Highness is well versed in dancing and performing. For the same artistic reasons, he also understands the performing of plays.
“You all agree, but how about you, Miss Foru?” Lady Sophia asked.
Foru raised an eyebrow in response. If she refuses, then I’ll have to convince Miss Sophia, not Foru, of that it’s okay…
I prepared myself in such a way, but as it turned out, it was a groundless fear.
“I agree. It would be good to have that kind of experience for once.”
It softened the atmosphere and put a smile on her face. The girl who had been keeping others away and hurting herself has made progress. It is surely a turning point in her destiny.
Foru’s words are the deciding factor in the student council’s decision to put on a play at the school festival.
But of course, a play needs a program.
We need to decide on the program and prepare a script. After discussing what to do with the script, Foru said she would ask her maid to help.
