Chapter 100: The Medicine (Part Six)

After the FBI had left, Steele finally appeared. He didn’t ask directly, but he was indirectly trying to find out Huang Xuan’s relationship with Senator Melvin. Huang Xuan coped with it diplomatically.
Ginger didn’t stop Huang Xuan from continuing to use the lab. In fact, he never showed up there again. Even the few graduate students had been scared away. When Huang Xuan tried to find a few people to do some work for him, he found that there was only Peter and him in all of Zone C. Peter was also reluctant to stay, but he did so since he felt it was his duty. So with a bitter face, he ended up helping Huang Xuan wash beakers.
Due to disruption, a few steps that required strict timing had to be conducted all over again, which meant two hours had been wasted on it. Huang Xuan shook his head resignedly. The bright side was that since he had done it once, he had become more familiar with the steps to make the medicine.
At last Huang Xuan didn’t find anybody else for help and spent all night doing the experiment. As with most experiments, this experiment required high accuracy. So after each step he needed to add a small step to remeasure the object before the second step, otherwise each step would magnify the error of the previous steps. That was why it was difficult to counterfeit medicine, even under the same experiment conditions. The production procedures were much more troubling, because of the cost and equipment that must be taken into account.
After working continuously for 1 day and 1 night, under Rolin’s careful watch, no other problems occurred. However, Huang Xuan was still a bit worried since the formula had been given by a time traveller. So, Huang Xuan repeated the experiment 27 times to ensure their was no issues. After the last step had been completed, Huang Xuan took the pills out of the machine. Peter was also curious and came closer, but didn’t smell anything.
24 hours had passed. Under Rolin’s watch, no problems had occurred. But Huang Xuan was worried about the formula given by the time traveler. The last step had been completed. Huang Xuan took the tablet off the machine. Peter came closer to watch clearly and smelt nothing. Huang Xuan conducted the experiment 27 times.
“Prolong 4N,” Rolin called.
“Smoke1 4N?” Huang Xuan wondered.
Rolin immediately corrected “Pro-long 4 N. Life constitutional medicine, pharmaceutical grade 4 N-type.”
“You told me you didn’t know what it was!”
“I can’t read the formula but I know the completed product.”
Huang Xuan was glad. He had thought that he would need to ask Steele for help with the clinical tests. “Is the medicine OK?”
“All is usable except number three. But there is a bit of a problem.”
“What?” Huang Xuan became worried.
“Model N requires the cooperation of the base. You may need to send your grandpa to the base.”
Huang Xuan shook his head immediately. There was always someone taking care of his grandpa in the hospital. How could he take his grandpa away without being found out?
Rolin waited for a while until the medicine was put in the plane passage. Seeing Huang Xuan still hadn’t responded, he said, “In fact, the base could be simulated with energy, but it costs too much.”
“Rolin, don’t worry. We have a lot of gemstones that haven’t been sold. They are all yours.” Huang Xuan giggled, which startled Peter, who was in his thirties but had a mentality similar to Huang Xuan’s. Peter mumbled something and then said to Huang Xuan, “You’d better take the opportunity and do more experiment. Otherwise you will have to re-adjust the machines next time.”
Huang Xuan nodded with a smile but didn’t follow his advice, because he trusted Rolin. Now, the problem was energy, a lot of energy.
“Do you know how to take the medicine and its effects?” Huang Xuan asked Rolin as he got changed. He was thinking of giving the rest of the tablets to the rest of his family.
“Take one tablet every six hours. Give the patient a targeted massage for two hours. The number of times depends on the situation,” Rolin replied.
“How many tablets should be taken in total?”
“The patient will get better after at most 20 tablets have been taken. The tablets will help him recover. They won’t change his state of life.”
“That will suffice.”
“Huang Xuan, according to the requirements of the fourth priority, I need more energy. Otherwise I can’t use energy to help your grandpa.”
“What requirements? Didn’t I promise to give you energy?” Huang Xuan was annoyed.
Rolin didn’t sense Huang Xuan’s mood. “It is allowed for the owner of the authority to use Model N medicine, but your grandpa isn’t authorized. Therefore, only when the base and the buffer zone have enough energy can I use energy to help you.”
“How much energy is enough?” Huang Xuan thought Rolin was haggling.
“The energy storage of the base is already less than 30 million units. It will cost 12 million units or so each time the prolong 4N is taken. According to the rule of the base, the minimum energy storage must be able to afford continuous consumption, that is to say, our energy storage must be over 240 million units if you want to use prolong 4N.”
Huang Xuan raised his eyebrows. He had to spend another 100 million RMB. “Let’s go to Furnas. We still haven’t used the power company we bought in Brazil a few weeks ago. Connect it to the base and disguise the base as a company. Ignore the Brazilian government for now. It will OK as long as the base is listed in the directory of the company.”
“Do you want me to do it now?”
Huang Xuan sighed. He thought just altering the computer system wouldn’t be safe, so he said, “Wait when we go to Brazil.”
Since he had offended the FBI, Huang Xuan thought it would be wise for him to leave soon. Outside the center, Huang Xuan asked Issac to book a plane ticket for Brazil. Then he made a phone call to Dutoit.
“Mr. Huang, it is such a pleasure to receive your phone call. I thought you had forgotten me,” Dutoit said on the phone. Compared with Aubrey, he was more pleasant. It was a pity that his boss was not powerful enough in the USA. Europe was the territory of the United Bank.
Huang Xuan smiled and responded, “If it is OK, I want to visit Furnas sometime in the next two days. I will fly from New York to Sao Paulo tonight.”
“No problem. I will pick you up with Dr. Kelly.” Furnas had been divided into three parts by Huang Xuan. It was in a mess right now. Luckily, the account was still clear, but it was hard to say what would happen after Huang Xuan got there.
Issac had got the car ready. Huang Xuan called Aubrey and asked, “Mr. White, I am going to Brazil. Thank you for your help.”
Aubrey made a lot of polite remarks. Huang Xuan asked him whether he should thank the two American politicians in person. Aubrey said, “No need right now. I have promised them to go to the fund-raising campaign of the Republican Party with you next time to thank them.”
Huang Xuan realized that Junior Bush’s presidential term wasn’t over yet. Maybe he needed his contribution. He didn’t know that the laws of America had been modified a lot recently. There was a new loophole about political contributions. Every politician was trying to make the most of it before it was amended.
