577 – Love Struck; Here Comes Trouble (1)
“Go ahead. Tell me. If you can’t tell me the value of the flowers, I shall not forgive you today.”
Cheng Xiao Xiao wouldn’t let him off the hook easily. She must force it out of him!
“Well, that…”
Mo Xuanzun scratched the back of his head and asked cautiously, “Xiao Xiao, you mean you want me to tell you which I picked the flowers?”
“Exactly. Tell me!” The corners of Cheng Xiao Xiao’s mouth raised reflexively.
“Okay, let me think about it!”
Mo Xuanzun thought it through over and over again. His eyes profound and bright. Under the light of the luminous pearl, he radiated a glorious charm.
His thin lips parted and his elegant voice came out of his throat, “In the courtyard, the moss and the flowers are quiet. There are hundreds of flowers. The azaleas are red and the plum blossoms fragrant. Every year they bloom and compete with each other. The grass by the pond are green and beautiful and the lotuses were red as they glisten in the sun. The flowers never wilt and leaves never fall.
“The place is veiled by red smoke and green mist. Hand in hand, we walk deeper as we follow the path of the flowers. Spring is coming quietly. We are blessed by the flower and the moon.” (T/N: ML recited a poem that he just made up.)
“Ugh, you…”
Cheng Xiao Xiao couldn’t hide her surprise look. She hadn’t expected him to be so talented. She couldn’t find any faults with him.
“What do you think, Xiao Xiao?” Worried that she wouldn’t like it, Mo Xuanzun gazed at her. His eyes filled with anticipation.
“Fine. I will let you off the hook this time.”
Cheng Xiao Xiao couldn’t bring herself to say what she didn’t mean anymore. She turned and looked at the delectable-looking food on the table and said, “Let’s start eating. If this mean tastes good, you can cook for me when we travel in the future.”
“Okay!!” Mo Xuanzun was ecstatic and nodded immediately. He smiled at her and said happily, “Xiao Xiao, hurry up and eat. We don’t want you to starve.”
“Alright.”
The two of them sat down and Cheng Xiao Xiao picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks. She took a small bite it was tender and tasty. He did not mix up the salt and the sugar.
After the first piece of meat, Cheng Xiao Xiao felt more relieved. She asked as she ate, “How many times did you try before this meal?”
“Eh, Xiao Xiao, how did you know that I have tried multiple times?” asked Mo Xuanzun, surprised.
Cheng Xiao Xiao rolled her eyes as she ate. “Unless you are a fairy, this is not the quality of someone who cooked for the first time.”
“Heh, you are right, Xiao Xiao.” Mo Xuanzun smiled and put a piece of tender meat inside her bowl. “Have some more. As long as you like them, I can cook for you anytime in the future.”
“Since when have you learned to be so slick with your words?”
She glanced over at him then, her eyes rolled and she asked, “Was it Little Yuteng who told you that the way to someone’s heart is through her stomach?”
“Eh, Xiao Xiao, how did you know that?” Mo Xuanzun was genuinely surprised.
“Nonsense. I was the one who told Little Yuteng. Of course I’d know.”
“Ooooh….”
“Hahaha….”
That trick to woo a woman came straight from her and he still borrowed it to a tee. But, it was the thought that counted. Cheng Xiao Xiao still felt very sweet inside.
“Xiao Xiao, I am willing to be your chef for the rest of your life. No matter where we are, I will make sure you can have the best food. That will never change,” said Mo Xuanzun with his most sincerity as he put another piece of deer meat into her bowl.
“Ugh.” Looking up slightly, Cheng Xiao Xiao met his profound eyes and she felt like she was about to be enveloped by his tenderness.
She nodded quietly and smiled at him. “Okay!”
“Xiao Xiao…” There was a hint of an unjust feeling in his voice.
