Chapter 45: The Era of Level 0 Evolved Beings
V=fλ.
Shen Cong did not know whether Activity truly existed in the form of waves nor whether Activity abided by this equation. After all, everything in the post-apocalyptic world just kept overturning all he knew.
The only thing he could do was make bold assumptions while cautiously verifying the truth.
Shen Cong did not have the professional equipment needed to measure wavelengths, but he could rely on his senses to study Activity. And speaking of sensing Activity, it was a very unique feeling.
A normal person sensed things because their nerve fibers produced electrochemical reactions in order to transmit nerve impulses.
The thoughts in the brain were completed by countless neurons reacting together. And even with the research level in 2022, they still had no way of understanding it any deeper than that.
To Shen Cong, the ability to perceive Activity Activity was supported by an even more mysterious logic compared to how brains worked. All of the information about Activity proved that it was not an unscientific phenomenon that surpassed the confines of logic, but contained a logic that fit into the rules of science. It was precisely because of this logic that Shen Cong was granted the ability to sense Activity.
The ability to feel Activity was incredibly enigmatic.
It was just like how eyes could see images, how ears could hear sounds, how the nose could sniff smells, how the tongue could taste flavors, and how the skin could sense touches… Activity was also something he could sense.
It was very difficult to describe it, but it came just as naturally.
At that moment, Shen Cong had the urge to find the proof that Activity was a wavelength, and while he rolled the ant eggs in his palm, he placed his full attention on his senses. Then, he cautiously came into contact with the Activity radiation that spread out from the ant eggs before he made a complete ratio between its radiation and his own Activity radiation.
It had to be said that as his knowledge about Activity increased, his feeling of getting closer to the truth grew.
While the evolved humans among the survivors were still busy snatching territories, receiving taxes in the form of resources, and creating weapons, he was already walking down the path of analyzing himself.
When Titan went through all of its trials and tribulations, Shen Cong managed to understand and control something deeper within Activity.
These things did not give Shen Cong an insight that would allow him to instantly become an immortal or level up several times, but knowledge was the greatest productive power. With all the knowledge he gained as his foundation, he would definitely be able to figure out the right path and head to a better future in his process of getting used to Activity and evolution.
If he did not take small steps forward, it was impossible for him to tread a thousand miles.

Time flowed away bit by bit as Shen Cong conducted his scientific research.
An evolved human who only cared about strengthening their Activity might not understand why Shen Cong did this. But three hours later, he knew that his theory was correct. He had found another difference between individual Activity radiations aside from frequency—continuity.
The radiation produced by Activity was similar to that of waves.
But while it had frequency, it did not have wavelengths or wave speed. Or perhaps it had, but as of right then, Shen Cong could not sense it.
Shen Cong could feel the continuity from the Activity radiations. This continuity formed the frequency, and what he sensed was that it formed an intermittent rhythm. In other words, the frequency produced by Activity was actually a discontinuous wave. It was similar to the wave-particle duality in light. It had the characteristics of waves but also the characteristics of particles.
Of course, this was just an analogy Shen Cong formed to describe the continuity of Activity radiation.
Wave-particle duality was a physics theory that was too profound for Shen Cong. He had only heard about the most basic things in regards to it.
From what he could perceive, Activity radiation had two characteristics—frequency and continuity.
Next, Shen Cong used his perception to conduct detailed observation on the Activity radiation from the Mutated Green-headed Fly 1, the fugly cat’s carcass, and the demonic bull king’s meat.
Gradually, he noticed a phenomenon he had missed before.
The frequency from the Activity radiations varied greatly and had no order. For example, the frequency from Mutated Green-headed Fly 1 was higher than Shen Cong’s, and Shen Cong’s frequency was higher than that of the ant eggs. It seemed like it had nothing to do with an individual’s strength.
But continuity showed great order. The continuity in Shen Cong’s Activity radiation was the greatest. The continuity from the demonic bull king’s Activity radiation was second only to his. Next was the fugly cat, followed by the ant eggs, and the last was Mutated Green-headed Fly 1. Shen Cong then moved on to observe the Activity cores to slowly come to an understanding about the patterns in continuity.
After the host died, the continuity in the Activity core would stabilize. But when the host was still alive, it could become greater or smaller.
The stronger the evolved form was, the greater the continuity was, and the gap between each wave was longer and more stable. The rhythm produced would also be slow.
The weaker the evolved form was, the weaker the continuity was, and the gap between each wave was shorter. The rhythm produced would also be faster.
‘Then, grading the evolved forms using continuity should be the most direct way to perceive how strong we are.’
Shen Cong finally completed the extremely mentally draining task, and when he looked at his watch, it was almost midnight. He began to clean things up.
In the end, he sensed Titan’s Activity and mumbled to himself, “I’ve always believed that when Titan is fully covered in Activity, something amazing will happen. Then, I’ll use the amount of Activity Titan has to serve as the standard to measure our strength and grade us.’
Titan’s current amount of Activity was 34.6%. Shen Cong recorded the strength of the continuity in Titan’s Activity radiation for the night, and once he ate three Activity nectarines, he would sleep. When he woke up, he would check how much Activity Titan gained, and whether its continuity in its radiation would continue becoming stronger as well as how much it grew.
Then, based on this ratio, he could discern the changes brought by evolution and how great they were.
As for Shen Cong himself, his Activity frequency was the same as Titan’s, but his continuity was greater, and the rhythm slower. Tomorrow, he would check whether the continuity in his Activity radiation had also increased. If the ratio tallied, he could also use himself as the standard of measurement for the grading system along with Titan.

Shen Cong ate three Activity-laced nectarines, but he did not fall unconscious because of the impact brought by the powerful wave of Activity. His body now had resistance toward the nectarines.
But the impact still made him dizzy. In just a moment, he fell asleep.
When he woke up the next day, it was already the 3rd of August. By now, he had lived in the post-apocalyptic world for two and a half months.
Every day was filled with hope and disappointment.
But this sort of life suited Shen Cong more.
After he washed up, he immediately checked the amount of Activity in Titan. Before he slept yesterday, it was 34.6% Activity. This morning, the amount had reached 38.7%. Titan had gained 4.1% Activity, but Shen Cong himself was improving less and less. It was possible that he did not even gain a 0.1 increase in strength.
He should only have the strength of 3.2 bulls now.
But Shen Cong was not too conflicted by his progress slowing down. If it did not, after eating just a few Activity-laced nectarines, he would have evolved into a superhuman.
There was no way evolution would be that simple. The creatures on Earth had continuously measured the progress of their own evolution by using hundreds of millions of years as a unit of measurement.
Once Shen Cong was certain that Titan had gained more Activity, he immediately calculated the standard variable and gained a figure. Then, with this number as a comparison, he soon managed to calculate a specific level for each of the evolved beasts he met before and whose Activity cores he still retained.
‘If I treat Titan while it has 100% Activity as Level 1, then as of current, Titan is at Level 0.387. If I convert using this ratio, the demonic bull king would be at Level 0.215, and the brachyponera queen ant is at Level 0.204…’
Shen Cong recorded the levels of all the evolved beasts he had met before in his laptop.
[Titan: Level 0.387
[Demonic bull king: Level 0.215
[Brachyponera queen ant: Level 0.204
[Tumor pig: Level 0.187
[Fanged wolves: Level 0.157 – Level 0.159
[Unspayed poodle: Level 0.149
[Large-toothed rat: Level 0.112
[Earth-digging Insect: Level 0.101
[Brachyponera soldier ant: Level 0.071 – Level 0.077
[Brachyponera worker ant: Level 0.057 – Level 0.064
[Ant eggs: Level 0.051 – Level 0.052
[Mutated Green-headed Fly 1: Level 0.033
[Second generation larvae: Level 0.024 – Level 0.04]
He also recorded those that did not have any Activity cores.
[Murderous peach tree: Level 0.201
[Fugly cat: Level 0.054
[Ugly tumorous fish: Level 0.042 – Level 0.043]
In the end, Shen Cong calculated the continuity of his Activity.
He had previously thought that since he had already evolved to the point that he gained the strength of three bulls, he should have surpassed Level 1.
But in the end, the calculations showed that he was just at Level 0.747. There was still a distance before he reached Level 1.
‘I haven’t reached Level 1? I wonder if that dog crocodile who bit me twice reached Level 1. In anycase, as of now, all evolved humans, evolved beasts, evolved fish, and evolved plants should still be at Level 0.’
While thinking about this, Shen Cong typed a few words in his laptop.
‘This is the era of Level 0 evolved beings!’
