Ji Weitian stood outside the door as she rummaged through her bag for the key to the door. She was still wondering where her key disappeared to when the door opened from inside.
A soft little figure stood at the doorway.
She looked extremely cute in her small white lace top, denim overalls, and yellow duckling
slippers.
Moving up to her face, she had a pair of eyes as big as grapes, a button nose, a little cherry
mouth, and soft hair that draped over her shoulders. Together, her features made her face
look only as big as a palm; she also looked to be around three to four years old, and was like
a mini version of Ji Weitian.
Her large eyes blinked; underneath her gaze hid a certain craftiness that was not common of
someone her age.
She was holding a chubby cat in her arms, and right there hanging on the cat’s paw was the
door key that Ji Weitian was supposed to have brought out with her.
Both the girl and the cat were staring Ji Weitian who was standing outside the door.
Then, she told Ji Weitian off in a tender voice as though she was a small adult. “Mummy,
you forgot your keys again.”
Ji Weitian’s joy at seeing her daughter was immediately shot down by these words. She
lowered her gaze to the keys on the cat’s paws and stopped for a second before she started
yelling, “Fatty, I was wondering why the keys in my bag had disappeared. So, you were the
one who stole it!”
“Meow—” The cat who had just been made the scapegoat protested the injustice and ran off
after tossing aside the key.
Ji Weitian picked up the key quickly and put it into her bag. Then, she took the chance to lift
up the stern little ball of softness standing at the door, kissing her multiple times. “My little
baby, I missed you so much! I was not used to not having you by my side, nagging me all
the time.”
The poker-faced little princess finally gave way to her longing for her mother as she hugged
her neck and said, “Mummy, I missed you too.”
These words made Ji Weitian’s heart ache.
She kissed her daughter a few more times while holding her and then carried her back into
the apartment.
“Mummy brought back some presents for you. You’ll surely like them…” As soon as she
finished talking, she suddenly remembered that she was in such a rush to come back to her
daughter that she had left her luggage at the Ji family’s home. The presents she had bought
for her little girl were all inside those luggage bags.
“Mummy, did you lose the presents you bought for me again?” A second later, the little girl who was originally leaning into Ji Weitian’s embrace started shifting out of her arms
with a pouting face.
She crossed her arms and sat unhappily on the sofa. Then, she took out a tiny book from
behind the sofa and started writing down another note about Ji Weitan. “This is already your
108th time losing the presents you bought for me!”
Ji Weitian replied, “It’s not lost, it’s not lost… I just forgot about it…”
She was done for. The little princess was angry, and the consequences were going to be
dire.
However, the presents were left behind at the Ji family’s house, so they were currently out
of reach… Suddenly, she had an idea!
Ji Weitian lowered her head and rummaged through her bag again before taking out a bank
card and giving it to her. “This is the reward I received from my business trip this time
around, can I use this to replace your presents?”
The little ball who was pouting earlier instantly brightened as she stared at the bank card in
her hand while faking modesty, “I’ll reluctantly forgive you this time, but no more chances
next time!”
Upon saying this, she took the card from Ji Weitian’s hand and stuffed it into her small
pocket. Then, she picked up the fat cat from beside her and turned around to go to her room
to use her computer. She was going to transfer all the money in the card into her own little
gold vault… all in one go!
Ji Weitian was heartlessly left behind in the living room. She was about to follow her
and have a look, but her phone rang right at this moment.
When she picked up the call, a deep voice sounded from the other end. “Cindy, I’ve already
taken care of the people who were pursuing you. Do you need me to find out who these
people are?”
